Feelin' Crafty

With Aaron gone, I've been trying to stay busy finishing up some craft projects. Even though I enjoy having the finished product, it's been hard to gear myself up to pull all of my supplies out of the closet. The mess I make in the production process tends to stress me out a little! But, this little door hanger idea is something I saw a while back and really wanted to do. When my neighbor gave me the cut wood materials the other day, I was excited to have one I could personalize with our little family "portrait." We'll add a rung for each place we live, so of course I've got our next rung at the ready.

Meanwhile, tonight I'll be working on Will's baby book (at the table buried beneath scrapbooking supplies), while of course, peeking at the Olympics. And I'm excited that the Queen of Craftiness (my mom) has decided to come for a surprise visit! With her help, I should get a good bit done this next week!

Playmates

Even though February is a short month, we've been busy doing lots of stuff with friends. Maddie got in on the action, too, when we watched our friends' dog Abby this past the weekend. She's a sweet yellow lab and they played really well together... except when she tried to go near Will in the highchair or walk into the nursery, Maddie made it clear with a little growl that these are her territories, only. But, here they are being all sweet.

We played with our next door neighbor, Devin, several times this month, too. The boys are only 16 days apart, so it's been fun to watch them grow into little toddlers together. Also, it makes it really convenient when us moms have a doctor's appointment or errand to run that we can easily swap babysitting. Here they are checking out their blocks.

And of course, they spent a long time looking out the window together. I think they're ready for Spring, so they can play outside!

And here's another favorite playmate, Isaac. Will was a busy boy while I was trying to take pictures, so this was the best shot I could get of them both looking at the camera. They're six months apart, but isn't it neat they'll be in the same grade when they start school? Fun times, playing with/eating blocks again!

Happy Heart Day!

Valentine's Weekend was a love-filled, sweet time! Aaron and I enjoyed a nice evening out at one of our favorite Columbus restaurants, J. Broussards. Their entire menu is fabulous and has been featured in Southern Living. Needless to say, the food just melts in your mouth, especially their molten chocolate cake! Plus, it was just great to have a romantic date night as the two of us. Aaron left this morning for three weeks of Safety School in New Mexico, so I'll definitely be missing him... FAIPing has spoiled me in terms of military life, I'm afraid.
We had a fellowship dinner after church on Sunday, so I made these cookies for dessert. The Cookie Mama was my inspiration, though my skills (and patience) could use some improvement! Our friends baptized their little boy, so it was a sweet and special morning.

We exchanged Valentines when we got home and Will really enjoyed opening his cards. And I love my beautiful roses from my two guys... such sweethearts!
