Be Mine, Valentine?

While Aaron was TDY we spent Valentine's Day in Greensboro surrounded by loved ones. We spent the day beforehand baking cookies, so we'd have these little goodie boxes to deliver to family around town.

The kids and I were also quite spoiled to recieve some extra sweet treats. A+ to the hubby who not just sent me flowers, but also remembered to have them sent to a different address.

Will and Meredith got little mailboxes filled with treats from Mommy and Daddy, and lots of extras from all of the grandparents.

Mimi treated us to heart-shaped strawberry cakes, a recipe from my great-great-Aunt Jo who made them every year for mom in college. This past October she turned 103!

And they most certainly heart their Aunt Kate, who we were happy to have spend the evening with us.

Brother & Sister

Will wanted to join Meredith in her crib for a bit when she woke up from her morning nap. He was so sweet with her it just melted my heart. He's such a sweet big brother and she already adores him.

4 months old

This "little" lady is already 4 months old. Actually make that 4 1/2! And she continues to be the sweetest thing.

Super easy going, laid back, and happy. She brings us such joy! And bless her heart, still sleeps like a champ.

At her 4 month well-baby check she tipped the scales at whopping 16 lbs and measured 25.5 inches, placing her in the 91st and 88th percentiles, respectively. In other words, she's a chunker! She's already in size 3 diapers and wearing 6-9 month clothes.

She still loves tummy time and has mastered rolling... back to front, front to back, no problem!

And we love to hear her laugh! Here's Daddy coaxing out a few giggles.

Miss America Party

Every year I watch the Miss America pageant. It seems as much my civic duty as watching the Super Bowl, and just as fun to watch with friends. When I heard that Miss North Carolina was not only a Goldsboro native but also a student at Meredith College, I knew it was the year to make a party of it! Being that Air Force wives come from all over the country, it was fun to have each person cheering on their her state. We made our own sashes, why not?!
State representation was also the theme for the food.

Here's a quick tour...

We'll start with dessert first, because it really takes home the crown. It was Miss America apple pie, because I couldn't think of a better all-American treat.

Savory muchies included Vermont cheddar cheese with crackers,

Mississippi caviar, Idaho potato soup,

Texas black-eyed pea salsa, and spicy Maryland crab dip.

Here's little Miss Maryland. This was one of my friend's nieces who was visiting from out of town. She was so proud to wear her sash. How cute!

Our viewing party consisted of Miss North Carolina, Miss Arizona, Miss Virginia, Miss Maryland, Miss Alabama, Miss Wisconsin, and Miss Idaho. All but two made it into the top 10 and Miss Arizona and Miss Wisconsin went all the way to the final two. We were quite excited. Miss Wisconsin ended up taking home the crown (or in our case a half dozen roses)! Here she is. Miss America....
