Home Sweet Home

Currently, we are in the midst of box-packing, bubble-wrapping, wall-painting, fence-removing chaos! At least we'd like to think of it as an organized mess, as our moving day is now only one week away! The word I seem to keep using about everything is bittersweet. While we are thrilled to move closer to our family and friends in North Carolina, we were afforded the rare opportunity for a military family to stay in one place for a while and really put down roots. We've spent nearly all of our married life in Columbus and started our family here. I think it will always hold a special place in our hearts. As blogging has become my new means of scrapbooking, I figured it was fitting to include pictures of our home here. At some point, I think it will be fun to show Will where he was "reared up" (for at least his first two years of life).
The living and formal dining area.
The "office." Picture the grad students toiling over textbooks and papers in this very spot.
My kitchen. Such a sunny space. Almost my favorite room.
Breakfast area. But who am I kidding... we ate every meal here!
Guest bedroom and bathroom. Host to many wonderful houseguests traveling near and far to visit.
Laundry room and storage (Maddie's room). Not necessarily the most attractive, but oh so appreciated! And I'm not really sure why, but Will loves hanging out in Maddie's crate, opening and shutting the door. And further confounding us, Maddie likes to get in and join in the fun.
Master bedroom. The large picture frame in the top left of the collage will sadly not be making the move (double click to view larger). I made it in college from the dozens of roses Aaron had given me. Now it's dusty and falling apart. Aaron told me it wasn't worth the trouble to move. I told him fine, but I'll be needing some fresh roses as a replacement. I think that sounds fair.
Will's nursery. My favorite room.
Mimi and Aunt Kate painted this mural the day after we found out we were having a boy! It matches his crib bedding. Not only has it made for the sweetest room, but I love that Will loves it, and I'm having a hard time painting over it.
Planes, cars, trucks, boats. Made for one little boy that adores all things transportation! Good thing my muralists will only be a phone call away.

And that was our Mississippi home sweet home.

Paige, I love seeing your home. I know you are excited about getting closer to NC, but I understand the bittersweet"ness". You mentioned this is a "scrapbook". That's how I feel about our blog. Do you plan on ever printing yours? If so, any suggestions?

I felt the same way when we left Columbus (and we were only there a year). We were also moving home (back to Indiana), so I remember using the exact term "bittersweet." Columbus was our first home as a married couple, and we still miss it, you, and all the other friends we made there.

Your home looks perfect! I'm sure it's difficult to put all of that effort into a place you know you'll be leaving, but I'm sure Aaron appreciates that you do. Good luck over the next several weeks as you settle into a new place.

Hey MK! Yes, my plan is to make a book at the end of the year. I've heard good things about blog2print.com, but I haven't researched many options yet. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

I'm so glad you took pictures of your home. Do you have pictures of your first house in Columbus? I love blogging to remember life.

Also, a great place to have your blog printed is blurb.com. I've heard great things about the quality of their work.

See you in almost a week! :)

So sad! I miss that house. All the wonderful meals, ice cream, settlers, wii, bible studies. *Sigh. Sometimes I wish I could just roll back the clock and freeze it there! Miss you!

Love it. As much as I'm NOT in love with KS, I know it'll be bitter-sweet when we move, knowing that our two girls were born here. Home is home...

We are packing too! Though Tyler and I probably don't have as much stuff as a family of three and our trip will be much shorter. We are moving on the 24th. I loved seeing the photos of your house and can't wait to see some of your new home!Good luck with your move.

Oh, its so beautiful. I feel like tearing up -- but I know that your next house will be even MORE perfect.

Where oh where did you get the dresser/changing table in Will's room? I love it. We have the same crib, but mine's in honey oak. Love his room . . . Wish you could NOT paint over the mural.
