Let's Dish!

To celebrate Mom's birthday, Kate and I decided to gift an "experience," and we decided on Let's Dish! You pre-select dinners from their monthly menu, then you show up and prepare some delicious freezer meals. No grocery shopping and no dish-washing! We each went with the 4-dinner option, which for the Kiser family equates to 8 meals. I'd just like to say as a mom, I'm a big fan of leftover night.

Each recipe has a station with all of the ingredients and pre-measured scoops. Just a few minutes of following instructions, like juicing a lime or two (see below), and voila! Magic in a freezer bag.

My selections were Lousiana jambalaya, creamy chicken primavera, pulled pork enchiladas, and Asiago ranch chicken with roasted potatoes. Our tastebuds have been very happy.

When Kate joined me for a little break in the snack area (with complimentary baked goods!), I noticed her kerchief had come undone. I told her she looked like Pharoah. Ha!

Meredith started to get a little restless, but a little bit of birthday cuddling with Mimi did the trick.

Whipping up some tasty enchiladas.

And here's our stash. I think we did good work! And I think I'm hooked...

I did some figuring and for our family it's actually a really great deal. I mean we spend $100 at the grocery store each week, and I cook to eat at home 6 nights a week. Here I made food for 8 nights for $87 (thanks to a military discount)... AND I don't have to stress so much about coupon clipping, grocery list organizing, grocery store SHOPPING, and then the chaotic making of the meal that makes a nightly appearance. Is it possible to reclaim the hour between 5pm-6pm for peace and tranquility in my home?! Well maybe not, since they don't supply a babysitter and I still have two little munchkins. BUT for this season of life, I'm thinking this is the way to go. I'm signed up in March for 8 dinners (16 meals) for an even better price of $150. That's takes care of half a month's worth of dinnertime stress. Whoohoo! Plus, the recipes taste great... take it from a girl who loves to eat, it really is delicious!
