Pet the Jet

Aaron had his first flight in the Strike Eagle this morning! He was so excited he had a hard time falling asleep last night... but I'm sure he was running on adrenaline when he finally took his seat in the cockpit.
The squadron hosted the pilot and WSO (Weapons Systems Officer) families for "Pet a Jet" night, prior to when the class began flying, so everyone could see the aircraft up-close. It's really amazing how big it is up close, especially compared to the T-38 he's been flying the past four years!
Following a squadron burger burn, we attended a capabilities briefing, where we got a glimpse into what the Strike Eagle can do. The main idea was this... fly around and blow things up.
Then we went out to the hangar to literally pet the jet. Will kept going "ooh," "cool!" And he enjoyed being twins with Daddy in his mini-flightsuit.
We each took a turn climbing into the jet for our photo-op!
Last, we headed over the simulators where nothing with a memory stick is allowed. Top Secret! And made our last stop at the old simulator display where Will enjoyed flipping switches and pressing buttons. He sure made it look like he knew what he was doing! *wink*

It was another great opportunity for the family to see what Aaron's job in the Air Force is all about!

So fun! Great that they get you all in to see that stuff at the beginning. We'll be doing that in two weeks! One flight to go!

Hey, Paige! Where did you guys get Will's flight suit?? I heard rumor you can order them on base...
He looks so cute in it, by the way!

Hey Lindsey! We ordered from flyboys.com, where they let you pick all the patches you need. I ordered it like 2 sizes too big and we just rolled up the sleeves and pant legs, so hopefully he can wear it for a while!
