Life appears to be moving at warp speed, and I'm behind on blog updates to include but not limited to closing on our house, Aaron graduating the B-course, buying a minivan (gulp!), celebrating another baby shower, making over Will's room, decorating a nursery, and surviving an earthquake and a hurricane. And somehow, I find myself 36 weeks pregnant with my first baby sleeping in his very own big boy bed! And this, my friends, is the real reason I find spare time for blogging significantly sparse...

My once jewel of a sleeper in his crib, is quite determined not to stay put in his bed. Naps have temporarily(I hope) gone out the window, so that sheer exhaustion helps conquer his desire to get up and roam beyond his cozy sheets. Oh yes, many a night it has taken 2+ hours of consistent waiting outside the door and silently leading him back to a position of head on the pillow for it all to click. Make no mistake, there are no tears or drama, just quiet, curious stares watching to test my resolve. Slowly, but surely each night it's taking less time, by my oh my, this has been my toughest parenting challenge to date. I wish I had read the label on the big boy bed... WARNING: Patient, persevering parent required!
In hopes of making the transition a bit smoother, I found one of my childhood books that seemed especially appropriate. Who doesn't love Berenstain Bears?!

And this one is about Brother Bear giving up his old bed for new baby sister.... know anyone that can relate?! Will loves reading it together and seems quite proud of his new "big brother" bed. Let's just hope he can figure out how to handle his newfound nighttime freedom before our new baby arrives!
