MC Angels Christmas Party

I realize we are now well into January and I'm still posting about Christmas, but we had a wonderful, albeit busy, holiday, followed by lots of visiting with out-of-town family, and Will 's (can this be true?!) 3rd birthday, then followed by lots of cleaning up, toy organization, and packing up of decorations. And I must also confess that I was sucked into the time warp of reading The Hunger Games trilogy. Riveting! Laundry, dirty dishes and blogging paid the price for my obession. But back to the party....
These lovely college classmates of mine and their families gathered for some much needed catching up and Christmas cheer. I hosted these parties annually in college and the year after, and I missed them greatly when we lived in Mississippi.

Here are the savory and sweet tables. Mom and Dad came down to lend a hand and to see everyone "all grown-up"... with Mom representing the class of '77 of course!

All of us ladies had a blast together in college, and it's been so fun to see what everyone has been up to over the years. Here's a small sampling... There's Beaz, our nickname for Amanda Beasley, who spent the last year travelling the world, visiting 27 countries including Antarctica, Karen who's about to finish her Ph.D. in Math, and Rebecca who just completed her masters at St. Andrews University in Scotland. While there, she even got to meet and shake hands with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (yes, that's Will and Kate)... you know I'm jealous!

There was a great deal of merry-making before our angel exchange.

We all bring an angel or angel-inspired ornament or some such gift to exchange. This time I painted a birdhouse with our alma mater's new logo representing the "Avenging Angels"! Adding the word "avenging" to Angels is supposed to make our sports teams sound more intimidating... do you think that works??

Meeting each other's children was one of my favorite parts of the night. They all played together really well. We were able to gather/coerce with candy several of them for a picture.

Can't wait to do it all again next year! Love you ladies!
